Reflections on the research process using a Blog.

Reflecting on this process overall, I realise that I have gained many new skills without realising that I have been in a process of learning them. Aside from the frustration of fiddling around with the aesthetics, it was a much more enjoyable process than just working in a Word program, therefore the learning process was somewhat hidden. So many weeks further down the track I realise I am feeling quite at home in a whole new world.

My experience with updating websites was so disappointing, that I would not attempt to undertake anything in that area unsupervised, whereas with blogging I feel quite the opposite. I am not sure what to do with this blog at this stage - I really like the template and having the freedom to publish and edit at will, and as I said in an earlier post, I like having my own working space on the web. The convenience of signing in to my blog and being kept up to date on the blogging of others is certainly worth taking note of - at the convenience of so few clicks.

Unfortunately, this template lacks options in terms of areas the blogger is able to rearrange, so definitely a downfall there, however I would not choose another one as I like the individuality of this template. Ideally I would have liked the posts to be on a darker blue background with white writing, but this was not an option. Likewise, I would like to have realigned the title bar and moved the entire posting area a few clicks to the right, but it wasn't to be.

Finally, I rather like the idea of blog dropping as opposed to name dropping and I tried this yesterday at work with someone... nothing sophisticated, just something simple like 'so, have you been blogging lately'? I have to say it works a treat. , and by the way, have a look at my ClustrMap - all the way to New South Wales and the Northern Hemisphere! Yeh, burn a book or two!
